What I liked
I have Type 1 diabetes, and have attended the Diabetes Centre at King Edward Vii Hospital since about year 2000. All of the doctors and diabetes nursing staff have always worked to involve me in treatment choices, and to give me the confidence to better make those choices. This has given me more freedom of lifestyle, for which I have been very grateful.
Anything else?
I have recently been given a new form of treatment (insulin pump). Diabetes Nurse spent a lot of time explaining how to use this, and it has improved my life a great deal. She provided a great example of how patient empowerment should work! This has given me more freedom, better diabetic control, and better life.
