"Opposite sex staff present when I undressed"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford) / General surgery

(as other),

I was sent for a ultrasound for hernia detection. Taken in to room where I was told to remover lower clothing no privacy was given there was an operator and assistant in white coat of the opposite sex she started of typing then half way through stood up with out warning or my consent and visually examined me. As far as I was concerned I was totally stripped of dignity. Why are female chaperones or assistants forced upon males with out consent or permission giving.

I am very sorry your experience left you totally stripped of your dignity. We will ensure your comments are passed to the radiology department for consideration, particularly with regard to consent.

Your only answered in part .My main issue is using woman assistants / chaperones fine if your a woman your dignity is maintained . If your a male your stripped of it . It clearly states in your charter that you will protect the patients dignity and you don't sexual discriminate . By just using woman chaperones / assistants in this department surely this is a case of sexual discrimination against males on this complaint I would like to take it to a higher level its a known fact its hard enough to get males in and when you do you can be confronted with 2 females in a state of undress. Plus for further information can you ask the female assistant to leave room or at least remained seated till covered over ? Thank you for your time

I would like a reply to my above response directing me as to where I can escalate my complaint to get satisfactory answers .

Sex discrimination is wrong whether its directed at men or woman.

Patients of either sex under going intimate examinations must always be offered a chaperone and given privacy to undress and dress.

Can I please ask if am going to get a answer to my above questions ?

Why is it taking so long to get some simple response ?????????????????

5 months and still no response to a simple question should consent be asked if a chaperone/assistant is to be used Especially a opposite sex chaperone/assistant ?
