"I was trying get an appointment ..."

What I liked

I was trying get an appointment to have a blood test done. I experienced severe difficulties in doing so. I called at least 7 times over a 4 day period at different times via switchboard and never got any answer. The phone continued ringing and ringing. i don't know if it is a staff shortage issue but thaught it was terrible. In the end I had to come in person to outpatients to make the appointment, which should be able to be done via phone. Switchboard appologised (even though it wasn't their fault). I fully appreciate that they must be busy not to be able to answer the phone, however if that is the case then perhaps another member of staff is needed.

What could be improved

Blood test department to answer the phone when it rings as I never got any answer. Perhaps handing the appointmens for blood tests over to The Main Appointments Bureau where the call will definately be taken or employing more staff in the department that can answer the calls incoming.

Anything else?

Quite disappointed, would definatey recommend as hospital is very clean and modern, but not if there is going to be so much difficulty in making an appointment for a simple blood test.
