What I liked
I was a little worried at the prospect of having my right hip replaced but I needn't have been.
From the outpatient assessment to the operating theatre and then the ward I received the best possible care, and the wonderful staff could not do enough for me.
I shared a ward with three other ladies, there were two en suite toilet/wash/shower rooms, both spotlessly clean.
Everyone was so friendly and caring, the hospital throughout was thoroughly cleaned every day, even the bed linen was changed daily. No wonder this is a germ free hospital.
We had a varied menu to choose from daily and the food was beautifully cooked, very tasty and arrived piping hot.
After discharge a nurse visited my home twice to change my dressing and take out my stitches. The third week a physio visited me to assess my progress.
This excellent standard of treatment and cleanliness is what all our NHS hospitals should be aspiring to.
Well done Barlborough and a very big THANK YOU to everyone.
What could be improved
The wait for discharge (approx three hours) did marr the final day, but we were told this was due to computer problems. I'm sure this will now have been resolved.
Anything else?
No - I give the hospital a 100% mark
