What I liked
The delivery suite was very comfortable and clean, the midwives were exceptionally kind to me. I felt that my wishes were respected and that I was kept informed of my choices throughout a very long labour (which resulted in an EMCS). My midwife stayed with me throughout the surgery and stayed with me in the recovery ward until I was moved up to Edith Dare. I was treated by two midwives in the delivery suite - and can honestly say that they were professional, humane, attentitive and very thorough with my care. My husband was very ill while I was in labour and so wasn't able to be with me for most of it and these two women were so kind in making sure that I never felt alone in my labour.
Overall, a very positive birth experience.
What could be improved
The staff in the birth centre appeared disinterested in my care, even though I was the only woman in the centre on the night in question.
The majority of midwives didn't give me very much post-natal support at all, in spite of the fact that I had no support from family or friends.
The breast feeding councillor was absolutely useless, insensitive and intrusive.
"The delivery suite was very comfortable ..."
