What I liked

The hospital was very clean and the food was also very good. The nusing staff on the overnight ward were professional, effecient and helpful. However the day ward staff appear to be more concerned with how quickly they can get you out I felt like I was in a drive through Mc Donalds during my day surgery.

What could be improved

Staff in central bookings quite rude. Limited choice of appointments times. Felt appts were offered to suit the doctors rather than patients particularly given that patients usually have to travel some distance to get there. Also unhappy with consultant secretary who was abrupt and unhelpful. I was never seen by the consultant after either of my procedures. A problem occurred during my second procedure and this was not explained to me fully by the SHO and certain information omitted which I discovered when I saw a copy of a letter sent to my GP, which I had unusually not been copied into.

Time taken to complete pre assessment seemed excesssive and ways of make the process speedier looked into.

Anything else?

My complaint wiith this hospital is with regard to comminication. It is important that medical staff are really open to answering questions from patients and have the necessary communication skills and language ability to relay information accurately and sensitively.
