OK so my husband was told he needed surgery fairly quick got given a date of 6/3/17.on 17/2/17 he received a call asking him to go in 3 days later as his scan had significant findings he agreed and was asked what meds he was on but due to pre op department failing to tell him to stop taking one before surgery he continued to take it due to this he couldn't go in as needed so would be going in on the 6 .we arrived on ward 43 at 7 nothing to eat since the night before and unable to take pain relief due to anaesthethic .seen the abaesthetist no rooms available so had to be seen in the staffs office where all there handbags and coats were.the first person on the list had no bed so had to sit in a day room full of people in his hospital gown.very undignified and imagine the germs being taken in to theatre.at around 8.30 a lady came in as a patient also waiting for surgery.my husband was called out to be seen by his consultant all fine to go ahead will be going down between 12 and 1.at 12.45 a health care assistant called him out sorry no operation today we had a lady that has come in last night and hers is urgent well if that urgent why not do it last night also my husband was told his was urgent and originally wanted him in within 3 days.I booked time off work as holiday .my husband has a business and had to cancell a lot of work.also we have very little money I don't drive and couldn't afford to get a taxi home so we were stranded at the hospital my husband passed out at the bus stop due to being in so much pain and his condition.called the Secretary when we arrived home another date given but I can't get time off work now to be with him and due to this has caused a massive amount of stress at a time when we are already stressed and anxious.NHS in crisis they are pushing us in to going private which is too expensive.they are messing with people's lives.so when he finilly does have it done he would of lost a lot more customers with business.I will not be able to see or be with him let alone all the other things we have had to plan and take in to consideration.thanks for a great day out sitting in a day room for 6 hours why didn't they tell us that the lady would take priority over my husband when she arrived at 8.30 wouldn't of been quite so bad.disgusting way of treating people.I hate coventry university hospital.
