"Poor communication in this unit needs to be addressed"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Maternity care

(as a relative),

My sister and little niece were inpatients in the special care baby unit as a family we are disgusted at the lack of communication, attitude and total lack of empathy by staff in unit

As a health professional I am embarrassed that this is what is occurring daily in health service everyone we care for deserve respect and in particular this very vulnerable group and their extended family and the implications of the poor communication by staff in this unit needs to be addressed.

Thank you for sharing your feedback on this site. I am sorry to hear that your niece initially required to spend some time in the special care unit and I hope she and her mum are doing better now.

This will have been a difficult and upsetting period for the family and I am really sorry that, in addition to this, your experience of the unit has not been a positive one.
