"Waiting times for hip replacement"

About: Wrightington Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

I was recommended to attend this hospital even though its a fair way for me to travel. ( over 35 mins to get there) That's on a good day by car. I feel I've fobbed off yet again. Started clinic date on the 7th September 2016. then attended pre-operation for cortisone injection on the 15th November. Then told to keep a pain diary. Another appointment 21st

December 2016,. Waste of time for me to get my husband to have time off to drive me for my appointment. Was in and out in 5 mins, Didn't even look at my pain chart even though I was in a lot of pain. Made another appointment to come back on March 1st 2017. New x-rays taken and my hip has now deteriorated to bone on bone and is very painful.

I was told a pre operation appointment would be 6-8 weeks time. I can't walk very far and I'm off work which is not good, My quality of life is not good. I cannot even plan a holiday etc. Anyway they gave me a stick. Not that it helps much. I had a car accident on the Wednesday so now I cannot even go out. Rang this morning for a pre-op date. not even down was told maybe until July.!!! . I think is far too long to wait. I've contacted my GP and he's as disgusted as myself. sending me for a referral to a hospital that is open with their waiting times for hip replacement.

I was sorry to learn of your difficulties in respect of your operation date. In order to look at your case specifically we would need to have your details in full. If you would like to do this then please contact the Patient Relations Department on 01942 822176.

Kind regards
