"Arrogant consultants who lack the ability to..."

About: Southend Hospital / Respiratory medicine

I have attended this ghastly hospital many times and seen consultants who could not even diagnose a gallstone seen on scans. I made a formal complaint on 21st December but am still waiting for a response.

My medical records contain a serious diagnosis that I don't have.

Via my GP, I requested a second opinion re my chest problems.

As part of my second opinion, I attended for a lung function test and visited my GP for the results, they were not forthcoming.I contacted the hospital only to be told by an arrogant so called consultant, that my very skilled GP could not have a copy of my report until they had see the patient as my GP may not understand the results.

I wonder if this is one of the same consultants who failed to diagnose gallstones?

Why do these arrogant people think they are entitled to keep a patient waiting for weeks for test results, when at the very least, the could / should have sent their own views to my GP.

Had it not been for my very skilled GP, I would still be attending this hospital for a variety of problems I didn't have.

I had a lung function test at Basildon hospital a while back, and received a copy of their report within a few days of the test.

At Southend hospital we always have to write and beg fro copies of reports, and because in the past I had a mental health problem, all my reports made reference to that, the level of discrimination is appalling, but then complaining does not get results ... still waiting for a response from my complaint in December.

Given the poor care I have had from this hospital and the failure of consultants to make a simple diagnosis, is it any wonder that I (and my GP) are desperate to receive a copy of my LFT report so that I can get form my own opinion, as clearly consultants do not always make a correct diagnosis, or indeed, one at all.

Before the hospital tell me to contact them and they will sort things out, they need reminding that I am still waiting foe closure re my December complaint.

I feel it is my body and I am quit capable of understanding a LFT report, and my GP even more so. We have skills too, often superior to those of some consultants.

I will now ask my GP to refer me to Basildon Hospital where no doubt I can have a lung function test and get the results before my appointment at Southend hospital is due!

This hospital seriously lacks any real management and treats patients as if they are all ignorant. We need to be treated as intelligent folk and treated with some degree of respect.

Now i wait for more excuses!
