Within 2 weeks of my GP finding a lump in my breast, I was at the Alexandra Hospital for a mammogram. The Breast Care nurse was absolutely fantastic, within 10 minutes of my examination I was having a mammogram and straight after that, an ultrasound. 20 minutes later I was back with the breast care nurse who gave me my results. It took just TWO hours from start to finish. I have private healthcare insurance but chose to stay with NHS and I'm so pleased I did, because it took less than 2 weeks from discovering I had a lump to being told I was told I was cancer free. If I'd used my private healthcare it would've taken 4/5 weeks.
