"I got no feedback on how my surgery went"

About: Arrowe Park Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I had attended Day case Gynae for ablasion and sterilisation at Arrow Park Women and Children unit.

The actual theatre staff were lovely, however I found the post op unit dire. Not one nurse spoke to me, I got no feedback on how my surgery went. Only the student nurse offered me any clarity which I still haven't formally received from either medical or nursing staff.

I ended back at the department the next day, not offered a drink or anything to eat having been there for 7 hours - again, except by the student nurse.

I have had further problems post op and felt I was palmed off with some medication from a junior doctor in A&E.

I am a medical professional myself, I am also able bodied with a voice.

Thank you for your comments about your recent day case procedure. We are pleased to hear that you found the Theatre staff lovely, and so it is particularly disappointing that this good impression of our services was then undermined by your experience post operatively. Please accept our apologies for this.

If you would like to contact the Patient Relations Team, then we would be happy to look into these negative aspects further for you. The team may be contacted on telephone 0151 604 7660 or email wih-tr.Patientrelations@nhs.net.
