I am concerned about the care given to an elderley neighbour on the ward at Babbington Hospital.

I feel that as a unit which is providing rehabilitation patients should be encouraged to move around independently.

A common practice appears to be that the patients are left sitting in their chairs, and are not allowed to get up or walk about without being escorted. This appeared to result in increasing immobility in the patients on a daily basis.

Also my neighbour was admitted with her anti-depressants, and was in the hospital for 5 weeks without any anti-depressant medication.

The result of her treatment over this time was not rehabilitation, but was increased frailty and increased inability to take decisions for herself, a decrease in her mental state and ability to move around independently and care for herself.

I also feel that some of the staff on the ward would be happier in their jobs if they could care for an empty ward.
