"The efficiency with which I was ..."

About: St Mary's Hospital (HQ) (London)

What I liked

The efficiency with which I was seen in the emergency and given something for the intense pain I was feeling for my shattered elbow; the concern for my well being by the staff; their immediate concern for my health and comfort, rather than whether or not I could pay the bill; being in a ward rather than in a private room, so I never felt ignored; the friendliness of the staff;

the excellent job done by the surgeons--I have had to have a bone graft (last month) because the elbow stopped healing, but I had regained full rotation and all but a little of the ability to extend my arm. I also liked the billing procedure, where they billed me a set amount for each day in hospital with no additional charges for surgery, surgeons, pain medication, food, etc.

What could be improved

It would have been nice if there were more experts in elbows available--I had to wait 3 days for my surgery, which meant 3 days of fasting just in case there was a chance for my surgery to take place that day.

Note: in your section below, What happens next, you have misspelled "receive."

Anything else?

In spite of this nasty hiatus in our trip to England where I was singing with a choir at Windsor Castle and at Canterbury, I was able to continue our travels. The nicest surprise came when we received the bill, which was a fraction of what this procedure and hospital stay had it been done in the United States.
