About: Queen's Hospital / Accident & emergency

Arrived at 10.30pm and booked in.

The triage nurse did not call me in at all.

I was unable to ask for pain relief or be assessed and sent for X-ray, just sat and waited in the most uncomfortable area.

I was unable to explain to anyone that I had had to bring my husband as I am his sole carer and he is desperately ill himself.

He had to sit on a rock hard chair with no way to be comfortable and this has since set off his internal bleeding and vomiting so I am seriously worried about him.

After three and a half hours a doctor called me in. Firstly they could see clearly I was in great pain, struggling to use crutches and to get through doors.

They did not bother to wait for me, just walked through doors and left me to struggle on my own.

Totally unacceptable.

Secondly they completely failed to ask if it was ok to use my first name, which is not acceptable.

Thirdly they wanted to know the results of my X-ray and I had to explain that I had not been seen and assessed by the triage nurse not had an X-ray and no pain relief for over three and a half hours.

I explaIned I am the sole carer and asked if a porter could bring my husband with me in a wheelchair.

This did not happen.

The doctor finally got me two painkillers and wanted me to use a morphine suppository, which I could not do as I need to be able to care for my husband as I had already pointed out, and clearly had been ignored.

I was sent for X-ray, and again the doctor completely failed to help me to stand or to get through any of the doors or even get a porter with a chair, I was just abandoned.

The radiographers were unwilling to assist in removing my shoe, my feet were clean as were the shoes.

They could see I was struggling to move my leg as it had swollen with the bruising but very slow to offer assistance.

After another very long wait the doctor came out to me in reception and proceeded to discuss my assessment in full hearing of the other people around in the waiting area.

So no dignity there.

I was not asked if I had any pain relief at home just told to go and rest it.

As I had already explained this is not possible due to my role as a carer.

They could not be bothered at all, it was not their problem.

I asked for something to help me walk but they would not give me anything, not even tubing rip to help me get home.

They did offer one stick, but that is no use when I am caring for a man who can't move independently.

So I spent six hours in great pain with no support or care at all.

I got better help from a drug addict who offered to push my husband's wheelchair than I did from any NHS staff.
