Following a self referral for a mammogram my 72 year old Mum was diagnosed with Breast Cancer which came as an enormous shock to us and our family.
This was identified in December 2016 and by February 2017 (49 days later) we returned to Dr Mansell's Breast Cancer Clinic at Hairymres for the news that the mastectomy had successfully removed all cancer and that the only further treatment required was a hormone tablet.
This news ended the most frightening and stressful time in our life but what was so impressive was the speed in which her condition was diagnosed and treated all under the exceptional care of Glasgow Breast Screening Clinic, Hairmyres Breast Cancer Clinic and Wishaw General.
Very special thanks to Jean and Lindsay from the Glasgow Breast Screening and to Nurse Angela from Dr Mansells team who was so sensitive in caring for my mum and made the visits to the clinic more bearable with her friendly and professional approach.
In addition to these individuals the whole team involved in making this happen including surgeons and all supporting staff. Thank you NHS, this was a service delivered with excellence and worthy of feedback.

Dear Helen D,
Firstly I am so pleased that your Mum is well and has been given such good news. I can't imagine the worry you have all been through and the shock is immense for the whole family.
I am delighted to pass on your kind thoughts and comments to the teams involved here in Lanarkshire as these types of postings always help to remind staff that this is not just a job but a vocation and for many a huge pride and love of the positive impact it can have on others lives.

Thank you for your response Gwen our family feel so grateful for the care and support and wonder if it is appropriate to forward gifts or if you could recommend the appropriate Cancer Charity that we could donate to in appreciation thanks again

Small gifts of use such as consumables (tea, coffee, biscuits etc) are always welcomed by staff,and any charity you feel is worthy will welcome donations.
If you have a look on the internet, there will be lots of Cancer charity information to steer you in your decision and choices.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to contact us and provide such positive feedback in relation to your mum's care and acknowledge the good news your mum has been given.
As Gwen has said there are many worthy charities. Locally we work with Breast Cancer Care who provided services for women and their families affected by breast cancer. We also work with Macmillan Cancer Support, The Haven, The Kilbryde and Maggie's too.
