"They really took my risks seriously, which in turn has helped me to take my own risks more seriously"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital / Accident and emergency South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as the patient),

I was taken by ambulance to this dept as I'd taken an overdose. The ambulance crew were so kind and non judgemental. I think they came from Newhaven. Their approach and understanding really helped me.

I was seen within the two hour waiting time at A and E but was there for approximately 7 hours. The staff I saw were obviously stretched to the absolute limit but I was treated with such respect, kindness and empathy. They really took my risks seriously, which in turn has helped me to take my own risks more seriously. I'm not sure if I can mention names but Dr Diva who saw me was the kindest doctor I've ever met! The mental health liaison nurse Jo carefully listened to my story and completely understood me, and in my opinion is one highly skilled mental health nurse.

I just want to say a big thank you to all the people who helped me that day/night.

Dear A&E43

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your thoughts about the NHS staff who helped you when you needed them recently. It was so nice to read that you were treated kindly and with respect throughout what must have been a very traumatic experience for you, and in particular to read your comments about the ambulance crew.

I know the crew would be really pleased to know that you found them to be kind, non-judgemental and understanding, and if you are able to contact us directly to provide a little more detail, we can identify them and pass on your thanks. If you would like to, and if you are able, please contact the Patient Experience Team by email to pet@secamb.nhs.uk, or by telephone to 0300 123 9242.

Thank you again, and I do hope you are feeling much better now.

With very best wishes for the future, Louise
