"Poor commmunication"

As a nurse, I was appalled to hear about a friend's experience at this hospital - her elderly mother arrived at A&E by ambulance at about 2. 45pm and was left for several hours without being seen by a doctor - in fact, it was not until 9pm that she was eventually see. At no time was her mother offered a drink or something to eat and as a diabetic this is unacceptable. Whilst the department was clearly very busy, no-one provided any updates as to what was happening, my friend was unable to leave her mother so could not go out and get her a drink or find someone to ask. The communication was non-existent and frankly, having seen the low response to feedback on this site, communicating and responding to service users is not deemed important.
