"Again we were told to wait"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

My mother tripped and fell  after visiting her sister in a nursing home.

We missed the on-call doctor by 10 mins and were referred to A&E (1 hour away). On arrival, details were taken & told to wait. Half an hour later she was seen by the nurse, given 2 pain killers & told to wait.

The pain killers took no effect. After suffering hours of severe pain (she also has a heart condition) we would regularly ask if she would be seen to soon.

Again we were told to wait. Eventually, after nearly passing out with the pain, she pleaded to see a doctor. Finally she was seen. The doctor found she had a dislocated shoulder and treated her. We left the A&E after midnight.

Is this a normal amount of time to be seen (at her age & with a heart condition)?

Looking back now I think she could easily of had a heart attack with the pain & stress.
