"I'd rather find an alternative hospital"

After having complications related to gastric banding surgery, I wasn't referred to the imagining department at Montefiore for an ultrasound guided fill. I waited several weeks before I was contacted by the hospital to arrange an appointment. During the phone call, the hospital representative needed to speak to the doctor and said they would call me that back that afternoon to arrange an appointment and to provide me with a quote. They did not provide their name or a contact number, so after two weeks I finally called the main reception and spent the day back and forth waiting for the moment to find out who had tried to call me as they had left no notes on their system. When I received the call back, I agreed an appointment time only to be called a short time later to be told that appointment was no longer available. We made a further appointment for three weeks later, around two month after my initial request. I arrived at the hospital 10 minutes early for my appointment and watched as patient after patient came and went in for their appointments. 10 minutes after my agreed appointment time had passed, a nurse came to tell me the doctor wasn't there and they didn't know where they were. A further 10 minutes passed and again I was told they didn't know when the doctor would be arriving or why they were late. I mead made it very clear when the appointment was booked that I needed to have left the hospital by 9:15am as a matter of urgency. I had received the first appointment of the day at 8:45 to accommodate this. When 9:15 came there was still no doctor and I had to leave, disappointed and very upset as these complications are life-changing and seriously affect me on a daily basis. Not once have the hospital tried to contact me to re-arrange the appointment or to apologise. If I was 25 minutes late for an appointment, I would be charged for said appointment and would not be seen - I feel like I am not being taken seriously as a patient and that there is no accountability to their doctors. It's a huge disappointment and if I can find another hospital that will be able to treat me, I will make sure I never have to attend the Montefiore again.
