I was taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital by ambulance in early Janurary where I was diagnosed as having pneumonia. The hospital was overwhelmed with patients. Despite this I was seen relatively promptly. There wasn't any room in A/E so I was treated in out patients department. Yes it was several hours before I was admitted to a ward BUT all the time I had to wait I was being treated with life saving treatment. I was cared for with understanding and. Dignity.
Once admitted to a ward I received every care and understanding.
I myself only retired from Nursing last year after 57 years so could appreciate the strain the hospital and staff were under.
Everything that could be done for me was done in a kind way with great empathy. I could not fault the Hospital in any way.
Treatment, Care, Cleanliness were fantastic...... Everyone from clerks cleaners nurses and doctors plus ancillary staff gave their all under great pressure.
A huge Thank You go to them all from me and my family for seeing me through and sending me home so much improved after 6 days at the most difficult time of the year.
Thank goodness for our NHS and the amazing staff that keep it going.
