I was admitted as a crisis patient voluntarily and was very very low in mood and suicidal. I was only in for a week and the psychiatrist decided that he was discharging me in 2 days so I decided to discharge myself instead of staying the extra 2 days. I was finding it very difficult to manage with the suicidal thoughts and ideation and it just felt like staff were having a go at me all of the time as I didn't feel able to engage with them or in activities.
Prior to the discharge I have been left to struggle with my suicidal thoughts and ideations. The psychiatrist, the nurse and home treatment all knew that I wanted to leave to end my life but it was just like they didn't really care or even want to listen to me so now I am left feeling that suicide is the only answer. I think staff and the psychs should pay more attention to what patients are trying to communicate to them especially if a patient like myself struggles with this. A few nurses were caring some were not.
