Thank you for your feedback. We were sorry to learn about the difficulty you experienced in contacting the ward and hospital switchboard during your daughter’s admission, and appreciate how difficult and frustrating this must have been for you.

We have established that on 24th January 2017 there was a problem with the lines to the hospital site which serve the main switchboard and ward telephone numbers which can be dialled directly. Approximately 50% of the lines were not working for a period of time, and this meant that while some calls were being received as usual, once all the working lines were being used, further incoming calls could not be received. There is a joint investigation with the provider of the lines to the hospital under way, to identify any steps which can be taken to prevent this happening again.

If you would like to discuss this with us in more detail, please feel free to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0161 276 8686 or by e-mailing pals@cmft.nhs.uk
