"ward C3"

About: Russells Hall Hospital

(as a relative),

My mom had been on this ward for 3 weeks, and I have never known such poor treatment. Not just to my mom but seeing it to other patients to, The nurses would feed her as if they were force feeding her ie too quickly, (my mom has never eaten quickly in her life, likes to taste her food) we noticed her tablets that she had been taking before admission was not being given to her, the meds she was prescribed in hospital was given when they felt like it, some days she went without.

In the first 2 weeks of my mom being in the hospital she was her normal self, but then things changed literally over night, we went to visit and it was like talking to some one who in my mind had been drugged up.  They kept saying it was lack of oxygen to the brain but she came out of hospital and guess what, she virtually back to her old mental self, but the drugs they sent back sort of made me think them.  They were very high strength pain killers that relaxes patients only she wasnt in pain though? ? ? ? ? I want my dad to call our doctor out to get her checked over, they would also play with her catheter for no obvious reason which she didnt like and she said the bed baths were the most painful, they didnt seem to care, ,

I also found the nurses very nosey and would listen to conversations or keep looking at us, no they wasnt being nice about it either and one nurse had a go at me cause she hadnt eaten her breakfast that day and told me to make sure she ate, talk about being in total shock. Oh and the dr called my mom an oxygen junky, well talk to the nurses who insisted she had it on continuously.

Thank you, Louisa for taking the time to post feedback about your mom’s experience of Russells Hall Hospital. We aim to offer the highest standards of care and must apologise that this was not your mom’s experience during her stay on ward C3. The poor experience you have described is not what we would expect for any patient in our care.

We are concerned by the issues you have raised and would urge you to contact us so that we can look into them further. If you or your mom would like us to do this, please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on free phone 0800 073 0510 as soon as possible.

In the meantime, we have passed your feedback onto the staff members responsible for ward C3. We welcome all feedback and would like to assure you that all comments are taken seriously and acted upon as part of our on-going commitment to improving patient experience.
