I received a phone call from a nurse to speak to me as to why I had not attended an appointment earlier.
This was out of concern for my well-being. It was clear the staff had been concerned as I don't miss my eye injections. They knew that something must be wrong. These injections are very important to me for day to day living. It was arranged that I could attend to receive my injection. I felt really glad that the nurse had contacted me as another appointment could have taken weeks to rearrange.
I was welcomed into day surgery and the receptionist had been forewarned of my arrival. I was very quickly processed and when I saw the team who were about to deliver the treatment, they showed genuine concern that I had not attended earlier. I received my injection in the usual, very professional but very relaxed manner.
I have went from one extreme to the other when receiving this treatment, but I can now say I have complete and utter faith, trust and respect for the team. I felt that day that because a member of staff had used their initiative, used common sense, to just pick up a phone and make a call, it prevented unnecessary delay, possible additional costings etc.
I look upon this as ABCD, Above and Beyond the Call of Duty. I wish to say that I believe that the NHS is currently under a lot of bad media, but the service I received that day was exceptional, simply because individuals used their common sense. The team that delivered the treatment that day are only a few of the people that I call my friends.
I appreciate the dedication and hard work that they clearly show when I am there. Well done and please keep up the good work, and I even now say......looking forward to my next injection, as well as seeing my good friends again.
