I had a septoplasty around 2 years ago on the NHS and immediately after I was able to breathe better which was a huge relief after suffering the symptoms a deviated septum brings. The problem I have is it is now bent again and causing some breathing problems, which do really affect my sleep and ability to exercise. My nose seems to become clogged a lot more frequently now, making this matter even worse. I am disappointed that I was told the shape of my nose would not change but it did, it wasn't as prominent at first so I had no concern but now because it is leans so much more one side it has left me with two different sized dents on the bridge of my nose which I'm concerned about and the thought of it getting any more worse really stresses me out. I have spoken to my GP but they seem reluctant to refer me back to the hospital. They prescribed a nasal spray which I'm beginning to think is just doing more harm than good when it comes to being able to breave. I was assured by my GP and the doctors at the hospital that the operation wouldn't last long and it is a inside the nose operation and my nose shape will not change at all. In the leaflet online it did mention that if there was a change to the shape of your nose this could be corrected with another operation. I overlooked this as I felt I wouldn't have nothing to worry about. At this point my breathing is poor, especially at night. I'm waking up sometimes more than once and finding it even harder getting to sleep to begin with. The appearance of my nose has definitely changed for the worse, the bridge just isn't evenly supported because of how curved my septum is to one side. I'm also irritated that it feels like I've got constant congestion, even on the side that has the most airflow. I know waiting lists are long which is disappointing but I understand d why. At 20 almost turning 21 I know I can't wait for this to get any worse, the dip on the bridge of my nose has become a lot more noticeable and during the time this has happened by breathing continues to worsen. I hope you can be of some help to me, immediately after the surgery being a success and being able to breath I knew then how much of a positive effect it would have on my life, I was very thankful to all the kind staff. From the doctors to the nurses who brought me food. I do hope if I am eligible for this correction I can get this issue solved and reap the benefits of the opporarion that made a big change to my life.
