I attended the hospital this morning for a Colonoscopy and in the midst of so many negative headlines about the NHS in general I am pleased to report a different point of view. My arrival was at 09: 00 Hrs and within minutes I was seen by a Nurse who explained the process and took some details from me. The Staff Nurse who's name escapes me at present then spoke to me and after I had the Cannula fitted for the sedation I was taken on the trolley through to the procedure room where some bits of equipment was explained to me and then the Consultant Mr Wilson suggested that instead of the sedation ( which meant me staying overnight ) I get given a supply of gas of some kind ( I can't remember the name ) and that would mean I could be going home soon after the procedure was finished. That sounded a very good idea and the Staff Nurse handed me a tube with a nozzle on the end and showed me how to suck the gas out of it if things became uncomfortable and it was very helpful at certain times of the procedure when it was uncomfortable.
The end result was that nothing of any significance was found so that was good.
It was then along to get a cup of tea and a roll and off home.
The New Victoria is a very pleasant place to be treated at and today, as always, the staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful and can I say particular thanks to Paula and to the Staff Nurse who's name I still can't remember. If this is read by anyone from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde please pass on my thanks.
