I was in Lincoln, The Peter Hodgkinson Centre on a number of occasions due to postnatal depression.
This is how it is ment to work.
You get admited and are assigned a 'Nurse' to look after you and told you will see a consltant asap.
In my opinion this is what really happens.
You get admited, the 'Nurse' has a chat with you, you see your consultant once a week for 5 mins. If you need to see them in an emergency, its a nightmare trying to get them to see you as they claim to always be 'busy'.
Some staff will talk to you if you need help but it appeared that it was mostly the other patients who gave the help, comfort and support. In my view staff are unhelpful, most rude and seem uninterested in there jobs.
It feels like the Peter Hodgkinson Centre is a place to get away from it all, but don't expect help.
You are woken early for your medication to be taken followed by breakfast.
You have lunch.
You have dinner.
You have supper.
You go to bed... day in and day out.
Yes they do have occupational therapist's thier, when you can get to talk to a nurse to reffer you...
Yes they do have consultants there, when there not busy or with, I believe to be'Private' patients.
Yes you are in a safe enviroment, when the staff are watching other patients.
Yes med's are given ot on time each day.
Overall my view is the Peter Hodgkinson Centre is a place to get away from it all but dont't go if you are looking for help, you wont get it.
