"Niall Quinn Centre- Pediatrics"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

We had an appointment at the Niall Quinn center in December 2016 for my son as a follow up to his last appointment. His previous consultant had left so we were passed to another to take on my son.

We found they were very unhelpful. They basically read his assessment letters whilst we are sitting, they didn't ask any background information. Went round in circles saying no to one thing then in the next breath saying they would like him tested for it it. My son sits on the fence for many things but they weren't willing to look any further and was happy to discharge us until they decided they would do a genetics blood test just to make sure before they discharge us in 6 months time. We left feeling very disheartened that they were willing to write my son off without looking further into his needs.

We are sorry that you and your son did not receive the attention and support that we would expect. It is very important to us that we rectify situations where patients and their families are concerned about the care they have received. The hospital Help and Advice Service exists so that we can speak with you personally and investigate issues you raise. We would be grateful if you could get in touch through the details below.
