"Brilliant care in A&E and ACU"

About: Manchester Royal Infirmary / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I woke up and quite literally thought I was going to die, I felt so ill, very different to how I have ever felt before, so poorly that my husband rang 999.

The paramedics arrived and they were really thorough and assured me that I was not going to die, I most probably had an inner ear infection which was greatly affecting my balance.

My GP rang me later that day and said that he would prefer me to be seen at A&E as I was also experiencing numbness to my left arm and leg and so off I went to A&E.

The reception area was pretty full, however, I was seen within thirty minutes by a lovely Triage nurse, then within another thirty minutes I was taken off for an ECG and then possibly an hour at most I was seen by a lovely doctor who was extremely thorough and very friendly who once again assured me I was probably ok but he arranged for me to have a MR scan the following week.

I had an MR scan, I was seen by a lovely team of great staff in the ACU department, bloods taken and I have been back this morning for my results, all of which are clear. I am so grateful for the help I have received from all of the wonderful staff at MRI.

During my time at the hospital I witnessed patients being rude to staff for no good reason yet the staff continued to smile and do their job professionally. Thank you very much, I very much appreciate the thorough care that I received and I am very grateful.
