"Very Dissapointed- Rude Consultant"

About: Princess Margaret Hospital

My mother had a BMI and knee xray at the hospital, when we first came everything was good. The hospital is clean, the only problem was the consultant, me and my mother both found to be rude. We are from a Pakistani background, my mother's first language is not English hence why I was there. However my mother's English is clear and understandable so I found it very rude when the consultant had ignored my mother's presence and was only talking to me. The first time we went was for a BMI and before the BMI we met with the consultant who did not talk to my mother directly and when they went to check her knees they grabbed it very harshly, which was shocking as my mother had explained about her pain. The second time we went was for an Xray of her right knee and again the consultant did not talk to my mother, additionally when they were talking to me about my mother having a knee surgery they were not looking at us but shuffling through their files. We had the same consultant for both appointments. Also another thing I would like to know is why did the consultant ask why we were there, is it to start the conversation. I don't think its professional to start of with a question like that and it is a bit irritating. A suggestion to start the conversation would be maybe for the consultant to state why the patient is there and to ask them if that information is correct. If the consultant actually did not know why we were there that means there is a major lack of communication, which needs to be addressed. This is the only problem we had with the hospital other than that it was all good. The radiographer was very nice they talked to my mother and were gentle with her knee.
