"Dolphin ward"

About: Princess Alexandra Hospital (Harlow)

My daughter has been an oncology patient for 3 1/2 years and so a regular visitor to Dolphin Ward. In the past I have not had any faith or trust in the staff on Dolphin Ward. We have had various problems during the last few years. On Friday we were admitted to Dolphin Ward as my daughter was sleeping all day, hardly eating amongst other things and is currently on a clinical trial at gosh. We stayed overnight on Dolphin Ward and were allowed home the next day on IV antibiotics. I thought the care both myself and my daughter received was amazing, couldn't fault it. Every member of staff was cheerful, smiley and caring. They went out of their way to make sure we were both ok. They even brought in an amazing sensory machine that projected pictures, played Disney music and had fibre optic sensory attachments for my daughter to enjoy throughout the night. It really didn't feel like we were in hospital! I would love to thank every member of staff who cared for us and I'd definitely be recommending Dolphin Ward to other parents.

Dear Vicki,

Thank you so much for your feedback about your daughter's care. I know Helen the Ward Manager will be delighted to receive this feedback.

The people who work for The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust strive to deliver an outstandingly caring experience and in a recent CQC rating were rated highly for caring across the organisation, including an outstanding Maternity Service, however we also know we don't always get things right.

So, if you are ever in a position where you are considering raising a concern, we would urge you to make contacting the Patient Experience Team your first step, they have access to clinicians and leaders across the organisation and can escalate your concerns and more often than not, resolve them immediately. You can contact the site team night or day about concerns and the Patient Experience Team are available Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm on 01279 82 72 11 or at pals@pah.nhs.uk.
