"Minor Injuries Unit - Great Service. We cannot..."

About: Sir Robert Peel Hospital

Immersive Reader

Took my young daughter to SRP MIU yesterday evening as she was suffering with abdominal pain. Staff were brilliant checked her out thoroughly confirming that it wasn't appendicitis and was a UTI for which they prescribed antibiotics. This would have been a 4hr wait at A&E and if this MIU closes this would mean even more demand on A&E units for cases such as these. SRP MIU is an essential service for Tamworth especially as the town is growing. If the MIU closes then this will put even more demand on Burton and Good Hope A&E with cases that could have been dealt with elsewhere- ironic when NHS asks us to only use 999/A&E in an emergency ! NHS needs to therefore maintain provision of a 'non-emergency' alternative like this excellent walk-in MIU at SRP. Thank you to staff who saw us last night you are a real credit to your profession and the NHS!.
