I was taken to this unit by police as my mental health issues had led me to be at risk. I have BPD and life can be difficult with this diagnosis at times and life just got the better of me.

I was in this unit for 24hrs. I just wanted to say that this team is really rather good, they are caring, kind and were extremely vigilant regards keeping me safe. I know I ranted about things and took something to heart that someone said but I don't hold any bad feelings towards them, in fact that person is really quite skilled. I was a nurse once working with people with BPD and know how challenging this can be at times. I was not perfect either! I think the CQC should be looking not only at the care offered but also the levels of support, supervision and training offered to staff members. If shortcuts are made, staff can end up working extra shifts, and eventually burning out like I did. Working at the front line of Mental Health care must be very challenging and I think this unit is doing the very best it can. So CQC please check on staff welfare; staffing levels, holidays, supervision and training and that way this unit will be able to continue to provide good quality care. I hope I never end up having another melt down but if I or any of my friends and family ended up needing this care I'd feel happy knowing they were being cared for in this unit.
