I have terrible periods of anxiety and depression which my GP believes now need input from secondary services. Despite this, someone who has never seen me before, "assessed" me and decided that it wasn't necessary. Instead they recommended I go back to a third sector service that had already said I was too sick for them to help. When things came to a head recently I was in A&E at Queens Medical Centre for over five hours waiting for a duty psychiatrist to see me. Sent home with a handful of sleeping tablets and tranquilisers (no psychiatric beds available anywhere) and a referral to Nottinghamshire Healthcare's crisis team I was hopeful that at last someone might listen to me.
How niave of me. On their first visit I was told, out of the blue, I had personality disorder and would require anti-psychotic medication. A few days later on their second visit I was told I was being discharged because there was nothing really wrong with me, I was just experiencing what every young person of my age felt.
Get on with life, go to a self harm charity for help if you need it.
My life is unbearable. Why will no-one listen? I feel like the Crisis Team employ people who have no comprehension of the symptoms of depression.
"How do you get secondary mental health care in Nottinghamshire?"
