I was referred to this department following positive blood tests for certain antibodies that may answer why I have such tiring and debilitating symptoms. I am desperate to return to work but have had to take unpaid time off due to my symptoms. I felt the doctor I saw was treating me with an prejudiced opinion that I 'want a diagnosis and pills and to stay off work'. I felt like this because despite my positive tests from a year ago, (the appointment has taken that long), they said positive tests also be don't merit a diagnosis and the symptoms I gave them were dismissed. The doctor was not interested in photos of various rashes I have had, instead they said I should see a dermatologist etc etc . I wanted to have these conditions 'ruled out' not in because at least I can tell my employer I will soon be fit to return, but it felt like the doctor was ruling the conditions out because they treated me and my symptoms as nonsense and the same as 'most of the general population have these symptoms'. My review has been written because I want these doctors to understand that empathy and understanding is needed to be shown to us patients, not everyone 'wants time off work' and not everyone exaggerates their symptoms......please treat us with respect and how you would wish your loved one to be treated and remember why you entered into medicine.....to help patients improve their health and life, please. I felt totally dismissed and a time waster.
