Well, we (me and my husband) went to hospital twice. We were waiting nearly two hours for midwife to check me on the first visit. Then we were told I am not in labour yet (open just 2 cm). That was the worst moment of that day. Midwife recomended to us to stay home for at least four hours and then come back. Well, we were back in just two and half hours. Midwife checked me immediately and told me the best thing - I was 7 cm open!!
So they took me to the Birthing centre and run water into birthing pool for me. Honestly - I didin't feel comfortable with this first midwife. Then about half an hour later, night shift midwife came to take care of me. They were the best midwife in the entire world. I felt so good with them. The midwife supported me when I felt desperate, calmed me down when I was panicking and wasn't shy to ask me how to pronounce my name correctly (the first midwife called me Sweetie - which I didn't like but I wasn't strong enough to tell them my name).
Well, after few hours on gas and air, enjoying lovely company of my husband and the best midwife I gave birth to our baby girl in the birthing pool. I was really happy that I was the first person who held our baby. I enjoyed the skin to skin contact while waiting for placenta, my husband cut the cord and as I had no stiches needed - not a single one! I felt this was my best day ever. I enjoyed very good service next morning - breakfast in bed!! All midwives and doctors who came during the morning to check me or our baby were really nice as well. As we heard on Maternity Unit Tour the funniest wish ever - Happy pushing! - so I will be more than happy to go through all pregnancy checks and pushing to have another baby in this hospital. If possible in birthing pool again, please!
"Wonderful birth experience"
