"Baby born, readmitted twice with an infection"

About: Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital / Maternity

Kindness and compassion were in abundance when I went in fully dilated having laboured at home. I requested assistance delivering as my baby was stuck ( look up hypnobirthing) and after a lot of info and advice was given the assistance I needed. My baby was delivered by a surgeon, the alarm went as my baby's heart beat had slowed, a flurry of midwives arrived. 1 person, whom I will never forget, was so kind and caring and really understood how scared and vulnerable I felt.

When later admitted with sepsis, I was so well cared for. Every midwife was so knowledgeable and explained everything. They helped care for my new born and understood how desperate I was to get home. Care and compassion are things that are probably overlooked on appraisals and performance management reviews. The health care assistants were amazing too. I went back with wine and cards as I feel so lucky that my baby and myself were looked after. When I left, I wasn't given a bill to pay for the care I recieved. We are incredibly lucky to have the NHS and I am incredibly grateful and thankful for the staff who work on this ward.

How lovely of you to post this!

It is very kind of you to let us know of the kind and caring treatment you had when you delivered your baby (I will look up hypnobirthing!).

Thank you for also highlighting our splendid healthcare assistants who are very much part of the team.

After a worrying start, I hope that all is now well.

My very best wishes to you, your baby and all the family.
