"Awful hospital for early pregnancy gynecology..."

The Gynaecology Emergency Department is a 24 hour service caring for women presenting with problems in early pregnancy or any gynaecological issues. As this is an emergency department it does not operate on an appointment system, patients are assessed by a member of the nursing team on arrival and seen in order of clinical priority. It is not possible to guarantee waiting times for patients as this is dependent on the clinical needs of the patients in the department and the wider hospital.

The Gynaecology Emergency Department also provides an Early Pregnancy service which provides pre-booked 30 minute appointment slots for each patient. Wherever possible the Early Pregnancy service also accommodate patients who attend the Gynaecology Emergency Department but do not have a pre-booked a scan. If this is not possible and the patient requires an emergency scan this would be undertaken in the hospital’s Imaging Department.
