"Minor injuries department"

About: Buckland Hospital

No Doctor available in minor injuries. so even when nurse agreed that infection was starting in wound unable to give any medication.

previous visit a number years back for exact same thing was handled much better.. actually diagnosed and treated with antibiotic cream prescription!

Was told I would have to make GP appointment after weekend, which would have allowed infection to get worse. We have a new 'state of the art hospital' but things have gone backwards not forwards. Staff sitting around at weekend manning what seemed like totally empty hospital.

I am sorry you are dissatisfied with the service provided at Buckland Hospital.

The Minor Injuries department is staffed only by Nurse Practitioners.

They have the ability to prescribe a limited range of medications, but it seems that the best medication for your problem could only be prescribed by a GP.

Sometimes your own GP practice is the best port of call for matters such as this - even if you initially see the Practice Nurse, often he or she can ask the doctor to quickly review the problem and agree to making out a prescription.

I hope your infection is now beginning to clear and that wound is healing.
