My Mom was admitted to Willow House having been referred by the Community Matron. Mom has dementia which was rapidly accelerating following a number of infections. Despite our best efforts and those of her carers, it had reached the stage where Mom was no longer safe in her own home. She would not eat and had become dehydrated. Mom ended up spending over 9 weeks on the ward and although deteriorated quite badly at first, the wonderful care given to her by the team meant that Mom recovered better than expected. It is unfortunate that the inflexibility of the social services system resulted in Mom being in hospital for longer than necessary. Mom has now been transferred to an Enhanced Assessment Bed in a private facility. First impressions today were not good and very distressing to hear Mom say that she is frightened. Not something which she experienced in Willow House. I can only say that I wish she was still there knowing that she was in good hands and that I didn't have to worry. Thank you to the team at Willow.
