"Antenatal ward"

About: Royal Oldham Hospital / Maternity

I went into the hospital early hours of Saturday morning, 22nd Oct, with contractions at 35 weeks pregnant (second child). I knew for a fact it was contractions, as the exact same thing happened with my first child (he was also 5 weeks early). Although it was 2am, the midwives were friendly and understanding and explained I would need to wait for a Dr. When the Dr arrived the doctor did a speculum and said my cervix was closed and I could go home. I then had a word with the midwife and explained that I really didn't feel comfortable going back home, to which they were very understanding and said I could stay the night to put my mind at ease. The next morning I was still having contractions and felt as though I was going to be sick. I got up to go to the toilet and passed out. I called for the midwife who then checked my temp which was at 38.3. The midwife said the Dr would arrive soon. When the doctor arrived I explained I was having contractions, which us women do not mistake but the doctor had attitude, seemed like the doctor didnt really want to be there and the doctor was extremely smarmy. The doctor said I could go home. When the doctor left the midwife said they wanted me to stay until my temp had gone down. A couple of hours later the midwife came to check my temp again, it was now at 38.6, I was having strong contractions and felt really ill. I asked if I could be seen by another Dr and get my cervix checked as I knew baby was coming. Another Dr came and did a speculum and I was 6cm. Next thing I'm being rushed to the Labour ward, my temp was now at 40, I was shivering and in so much pain. Then the smarmy Dr arrived and although the doctor must have known they should have checked me over previously, the doctor still had the same attitude as before. I was then put on a monitor to check baby and her heart rate was at 200 so she was very distressed. I was told we were septic and I would need a c section and would have to be put to sleep

When I awoke my partner and baby were waiting for me and I was just happy that me and my baby were alive and well. We both remained in hosp for 5 days on anti biotics. Apart from the one Dr every single member of staff was wonderful. A few weeks after leaving the hosp I went to my GP with a lump on my Csection scar and also other lumps down below. The doctor told me to return to the hosp to be seen. I was seen by the smarmy Dr who remembered me from before and I could not believe their attitude. The doctor had a chaperone with them, and told me to undress behind the curtain so they could check all the lumps. The doctor didn't give me a sheet to cover myself with so I just sat on the bed. When the doctor pulled the curtain back they gasped in disbelief as I wasn't covered then looked at the chaperone and started laughing. Then the doctor grabbed a sheet and as they gave it to me, said "have some dignity love" then looked at the chaperone and laughed again. Then the doctor looked at my scar and said "nothing wrong with it and I'm not just saying that because I did your csection. I mean come on I'm just so good" then sent me home. Very bad attitude.
