"how do visitors access ward C19 ?"

About: New Cross Hospital / Respiratory medicine

there is no visitor access system in place for Ward 19. visitors are knocking on the glass panel of the ward door hoping someone will let them in, i have seen other visitors let in 'visitors' alike. i asked 2 different staff members who said it was because of security. I would say it actually compromises security. Should there not be an intercom system - like other wards ?

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments relating to accessing Ward C19.

I have contacted the Ward Manager who has advised that there is a buzzer outside the ward, which visitors press and the buzzer alarms like the patient alarm. It does not stop alarming until the door is opened. The buzzer is not by the door so it is not always seen. It is on the wall approaching the door.

If you would like to discuss this further, please contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01902 695362.

Kindest regards
