I came to A&E on Tues 13th Dec 2016 at approx 9.30pm.
I actually had no idea how unwell I was, but I was having a severe allergic reaction to eating nuts - something I had not had before. I was taken straight into the resus department where a team of about 6 people worked on me. I had no idea that I was in grave danger. The speed and efficiency of the staff was amazing. Everyone played their role and were able to stabilise me. I want to give a special mention to two nurses in particular. The level of care and compassion they showed was immense. I was treated with kindness and dignity, good humour, and most of all, a genuine caring way which blew me away. Both were nothing less than exceptional and took time out of their busy schedules to care and make me feel human again.
I was probably not the easiest patient to deal with on account of a needle phobia (really sorry if I made a fuss!) I genuinely cannot praise them enough. The following evening,
I made a point of attending and taking a package of proseco, a tin of Christmas chocolate and biscuits and some panatone. I hope they received them, or were able to share them amongst their colleagues.
The resus department was spotless and exceptionally well organised. Your staff are a real credit to the hospital and the NHS should be so proud of the two nurses. I wish them both, and all the staff and happy and healthy christmas and every good wish for 2017.
"Outstanding A&E. Staff are absolute heroes"
