"Appalling treatment"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford) / Accident and emergency

I had the misfortune of being admitted to William Harvey Hospital as I had taken an OD. I was treated as though I should not be there and I was a drain on resources. I was given no food or a drink in the time I was there, i also had no blanket and was just left there. Staff were asking other patients if they wanted a more drinks or food, I was bypassed each time.

Unfortunetly this is not an isolated case and I have noticed that ALL staff have an attitude of people with mental issues do not deserve treatment or their time. The Dr saw me and only asked one question and that was, was I religious?

I am sorry to learn that you were not offered food or drink; there may have been a clinical reason for this, so if you would contact PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) on 01227 783145 or 01227 864314 or by email at ekh-tr.PALS@nhs.net they can take some details and look into this for you.

If you get PALS' answerphone, please leave a message as they will guarantee to return your call. I am sorry that you must have been cold; I am sure that the staff would have provided you with a blanket if asked, but even so, I am sorry that you were not offered one.
