"Patients and bed spaces"

About: King's College Hospital (Denmark Hill)

As a parent of child that needs frequent medical care, I sincerely appreciate the excellent dedication shown by all Kings staff who are working under very difficult conditions. The staff at Kings go beyond the call of duty and show genuine care from admission to discharge. Sadly as I've also spent 'nights' with my child on the ward, I've found that some parents of patients are simply arrogant. There appears to be little observance of rules on the ward with a few parents being very confrontational.

Surely we would all expect that wards should be places of healing. There are times for quieting down and definite TV off times but these simple and common sense expectations are from being observed. I applaud the staff at Kings who on a whole show extreme self restraint which can only be put down to there exceptional professionalism.

Thank you for your kind comments about the staff at King's.

However, I am sorry to hear about the experiences you are having whilst staying on the ward with noise.

I would like to be able to follow this up to alert the ward manager and wonder if you could email me to let me now which ward your child was staying on. My email is Jessica.bush@nhs.net and I am Head of Patient Experience.

Many thanks.
