I had a very good experience of the hospital. I had a breast lump removed at the Day Surgery Centre at Rotherham General Hospital. I was very worried about it all; particularly the general anaesthetic. The anaesthetist was really nice and put me at ease, explained everything before operating and asked if I had any questions, and was very professional and clear what would happen.
I had quite a wait because there were 2 other people before me but it was ok. The general anaesthetist didn’t make me sick or dizzy, just sleepy. I was surprised that it wasn’t awful. I was dreading it. The best thing was the tea and toast when I woke up. The nurse who looked after me was lovely.
When I was discharged another nurse gave me lots of advice and medication for pain/inflammation. I think it is good that they are changing the day surgery to separate men/women because I was in the waiting room with 2 men which was a bit weird when I was in a dressing gown! Just would like to say thanks!
