"Horrendous care and poor communication"

About: North Middlesex Hospital / Maternity care

Had a very traumatic birth (emergency C-section, despite being classed as low risk throughout the pregnancy). I would recommend checking the stats for these - I suspect they are quite high. Level of after-care on the ward was extremely poor. Staff very difficult to get hold of, confusion over what drugs I should be taking (I had to remind them), no beds on the ward for the first night so left in a bay. Discharged four days late as they had nobody to do the baby check, and again no drugs ready for me to take home. I could go on. I shall be sending a full complaint to the hospital, outlining my concerns, as I wouldn't wish my experience on another woman having her baby at the hospital. Please do not be fooled by the brand new facilities (as I was!). Many members of staff told me of the problems at the hospital and their dissatisfaction. Wish I had considered Homerton - I've heard endless positive reviews of their level of care.

Dear Jennifer

I was really concerned to read about your experience, as this is not the standard of care I would expect to see provided by our staff. Also I would like to apologise that it has taken a while to respond to your post.

I would very much welcome you contacting me to talk about your care and give me more detail, so that I can follow up on what happened and review your care.

My email address is below.

If you’d rather use our formal routes, you can contact our complaints team directly on northmid.complaints@nhs.net
