"Vegetarian food is a problem at Leighton"

About: Leighton Hospital

(as the patient),

i was a patient in leighton hospital 2 weeks ago and the nursing staff were brilliant, all my needs were met, except for meals, which they did hound the kitchens to try and sort. being a vegetarian seems to be a problem regarding meals. the choice is usually 1 meal that is laden with some rich sauce or cheese. if you dont want a high fat meal it proves to be a major problem. cant anything be done about this?

Thank you for your comments and we are sorry you felt the vegetarian options were a problem. We have recently conducted a patient survey and as a result of this commencing on the 5th November 2007 we have introduced new patient menus. The Vegetarian options consists of Roast Vegetable Quiche, Vegetable Lasagne, Vegetable Korma, Mushroom Casserole with a different vegetarian choice on both lunch and supper every day (7 days )

We plan to repeat the survey to ensure the new menu caters for patient needs.

We would encourage any patients not happy with either the service or the quality of the meals, in the first instance to speak to a member of nursing staff, and the catering management team would be willing to visit a patient to discuss further if they wish.
