"Mri scan at Rake Lane Hospital"

About: North Tyneside General Hospital

I had an mri scan at Rake Lane hospital on 28th November, what a surprise. I had an Mri scan at Nuffield hospital in June 2000 and was severely traumatised by it, it was a horrendous experience, so claustrophobic, with no support from the staff, I had to have counselling afterwards because of how it affected me. So when I was asked to have a scan I was panic stricken. I was ill for days since I got my appointment, so when i went into the Mri suite at Rake Lane, I was in such a state. Then we met the person who performs the scans. This person was so helpful it was unreal, they calmed me down, took me through to see the scanner, let me have a try of lying in the scanner, saying I could come out at any time if I needed. They explained everything to me and I decided to try, this person was amazing. They calmed me down and talked me through every second I was in the scanner.

It was brilliant I actually had an Mri scan, which I said I could never do again. All because of the help and support that I received from this member of staff. Please pass on my sincere thanks to them, they should definitely get a reward or something for being so amazing at what they do.

Dear Sir / Madam,

This was a lovely review to read - thank you so much for sharing it.

A reminder for us all of just how important it is to give people the time and support they need - hospitals can be very frightening places for many people, especially when you don't spend time in them every day.

I am so glad that the kindness of one of our staff made all the difference for you - if you want to get in touch with me directly, Annie.laverty@nhct.nhs.uk , I would be happy to pass on your thanks to the member of staff concerned.

With all best wishes,

Annie
